I have been dreaming of partaking in the Olympics, but never had the athletic ability to do so. Therefore I decided that in order to be a part of the Olympics, I needed to be a volunteer. To increase my chances of being selected, I started focusing my volunteering efforts towards sports. Last year I volunteered for 4 days at the NHL All-Star game in Montreal. Soon after, VANOC announced their need for volunteers and eventually got to participate in the men's hockey tournament.
A number of things had to happen in order for me to be here: use personal vacation, pay for my airfare and most importantly: I found a great Canadian willing to let me sleep on their couch.
I have tried to visit as many pavilions during my time off and update my facebook with pictures as often as I could. I had a lot of people anxious to live the Olympics through my eyes. In this picture, I had the chance to hold the torch and partake in Coca-Cola's pin trading venture. Kids loved to trade pins with me.
